Ohio Chamber Legislative Conference Receives Award
The Ohio Chamber of Commerces 2001 Salt Fork Legislative Conference
received the highest award in the Meetings category of the 2002 Ohio Society
of Association Executives (OSAE) Annual Awards program. The 2001
Salt Fork Legislative Conference received in achievement award for its
outstanding programming. OSAE is a professional association for association
executives and their staff.
I am so pleased to be recognized by our peers, said Linda Parsons,
manager of special programs for the Ohio Chamber. Our attendees have
always told us that we have a top-notch program and now that has been validated
by others in the field.
Since its beginning many years ago, the Ohio Chamber of Commerces
Salt Fork Legislative Conference has always been the states premier
legislative event for legislators and governmental affairs professionals.
This unique three-day event allows for attendees to discuss public policy
and explore current political trends away from the hustle and bustle of
the state Capitol. The focus of the 2001 Legislative Conference was teamwork.
Educational sessions included interactive session on how to successfully
work with constituents and the public in order to do what is best for Ohio.
Teamed with the excellent programming, the highlight of the conference
seemed to be the networking event. Throughout the conference, attendees
collected trading cards of the 132 members of the Ohio General Assembly,
the governor and the Ohio Supreme Court justices. In order to complete
a set, attendees had to trade and build teams to accomplish their goal.
This event was so successful that the Ohio Chamber had requests for complete
sets of the trading cards long after the meeting adjourned.
The 2001 was a huge success for all of the attendees, Parsons
said. Were going to come up with something even bigger for
2003.
The 2003 event will be held September 3-5, 2003, at Salt Fork State Park
in Guernsey County. So mark your calendars as the Ohio Chamber is planning
another award-winning event.
