The Ohio Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Envision Healthcare and the OSMA Insurance Agency to help employers stabilize spiraling health care costs through an innovative health insurance alternative, The Ohio Chamber Care Program. Together, our vision is simple: We want to change the way employers provide health care benefits.

The Ohio Chamber Care Program empowers employees to make their own health care decisions while providing a means for becoming conscientious consumers. The program combines traditional health insurance coverage with a Health Care Reimbursement Account (HRA). The HRA is a tax-deductable and unfunded allocation of health care credits (dollars) assigned to each plan member. You will fund the account based on an as-needed basis to reimburse employees when medical expenses are actually incurred. Any unused balance can either return to the corporation or be rolled forward to offset future employee healthcare expenses.

By utilizing this system, a business will:

• Control annual fixed costs by lowering premiums up to 40 percent;
  
• Pay for claims on an “as incurred” basis, rather than in advance;
  
• And potentially provide for benefits not normally included in the plan design.
