Committee heard proponent testimony from Doug Anderson, legislative liaison for the Department of Insurance. Anderson also explained an amendment sought by the Strickland administration that would extend the state's mini-COBRA coverage for laid-off workers from 12 to 18 months. Both Chairman Buehrer and Sen. Faber were concerned about the negative impact the proposed amendment would have on employers and urged the Department to work with employer groups to come up with a compromise. |
