| BILL TITLE: |
Property Tax Appeals to Common Pleas Court |
| BILL NUMBER: |
HB 435 |
| SPONSOR: |
Goodwin, Bruce |
| SUMMARY: |
Authorizes any person currently permitted to appeal a decision of a county Board of Revision to the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals to instead appeal the decision to the county Court of Common Pleas. |
| STATUS: |
In House Ways & Means Committee |
| LAST ACTIVITY: |
On Feb. 24, 2010, Committee heard joint sponsor testimony from Reps. Goodwin and Okey. Rep. Goodwin told the committee he simply wants to spur dialogue on the issue of relieving the backlog of cases that is clogging up the docket of both the local boards of revision and the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals. Rep. Okey said the current system needs a release valve, or else some cases won't be decided for six or seven years and, therefore, not benefitting the taxpayer, local governments or school districts. |
